Experiences from Our Community
Pimchanok W.
Bangkok โ daughter of resident
"My mother has been in the independent living programme for six months. What I notice most is that she has settled โ not reluctantly, but genuinely. She knows the staff by name and they know her preferences. I can visit anytime without feeling that I need to check in with anyone first."

"My father needs nursing support through the night, and that was always our biggest concern with care homes โ whether staff would genuinely be present or just technically on duty. At Thana Rest, his night checks happen as described. The family liaison coordinator has been especially useful for me since I'm based outside Bangkok."

"We used the trial stay to help my mother decide for herself โ without pressure from us to commit. She came out of it saying she'd like to stay. The trial was exactly what it said it was: a proper two weeks of daily life, not a sales demonstration. That meant a lot."

Bangkok โ family of resident
"The transition from independent living to nursing care happened gradually and the team managed it thoughtfully. We weren't suddenly dealing with a transfer to a different facility. The same staff who knew my grandmother were still there. That continuity mattered more than I expected."

"Being based overseas, I was worried about being left out of decisions. The family liaison model at Thana Rest has worked well for us โ I receive updates by email at times that make sense for my time zone, and I have a direct contact when I need to ask questions. My mother says she feels at home."

"My father was reluctant to consider a care home. He used the trial stay to keep his options open. By day four he had found a few people he played cards with in the afternoons. He extended the trial and then agreed to stay. It would not have happened without the trial option existing."

Family Journeys
From Uncertainty to Settled Living
The Situation
An 81-year-old woman living alone in Bangkok after her husband's passing. Her two adult children were concerned about her safety at home but she was deeply resistant to the idea of care facilities based on previous visits elsewhere.
The Approach
The family arranged a two-week trial stay to allow her to form her own opinion. No pressure was applied before or during the trial. A coordinator checked in mid-stay to hear how she was finding it.
The Outcome
She asked to extend the trial at the end-of-stay conversation. She has now been in the independent living programme for four months, regularly attends morning activities, and her children describe her as visibly more settled than before.
"She told me she felt less lonely than she had for the past two years. That was the only thing I needed to hear." โ Daughter of resident, March 2025
Long-Distance Family, Consistent Care
The Situation
A 76-year-old man with Type 2 diabetes and moderate mobility difficulties. His daughter lives in Singapore and had been managing his care remotely using a home helper, but she was not confident that medication and monitoring were consistent.
The Approach
The nursing care programme was identified as appropriate. A care plan was prepared before admission following conversations with the daughter and a physician. The family liaison coordinator was set as the daughter's direct contact.
The Outcome
After two months, his glycaemic levels had stabilised within a healthier range due to consistent medication management and dietary supervision. His daughter flies to Bangkok quarterly and says she can now visit without the anxious background worry she had before.
"Before, I spent every call wondering if he had actually taken his medication. That is no longer my first thought." โ Daughter of resident, February 2025
